Officers seek man convicted in $90k car auction scheme
SUMMARY: Law enforcement in DeSoto County is searching for Leandre Barner, who was indicted in 2022 for defrauding individuals in a car auction scheme. A bench warrant was issued after he failed to appear in court. Previously, Barner was convicted in Shelby County for theft, stealing over $90,000 through false promises of discounted cars that were never delivered. He was sentenced to probation and required to pay restitution to his victims. Barner was supposed to return to court soon for a hearing after prosecutors sought to revoke his suspended sentence. The Fugitive Division is collaborating with nearby agencies to locate him.
