SUMMARY: The 2023-2024 prep basketball season started with Ocean Springs sweeping Vancleave in both boys and girls varsity games. Maddox Noblitt led the Greyhounds to a 70-22 win, scoring 20 points in the first half. In the girls’ game, Ocean Springs’ Starr Jackson scored 7 points to contribute to their 46-23 victory. Other local games included Biloxi beating Moss Point, and St. Martin losing to Davidson High in Mobile, Ala. Elsewhere, Pearl River Central and Long Beach split a pair of close games, and Harrison Central split with Hattiesburg. The Harrison Central and St. Martin girls will head to Oak Grove on Saturday for the Oak Grove Warrior Classic.
