‘Northern Lights’ light up the sky in the Twin States
SUMMARY: A powerful geomagnetic storm caused the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, to be visible as far south as southern Florida. Viewers from Alabama, Mississippi, and Europe were treated to this rare phenomenon. The lights were expected to last through the weekend and possibly into next week. The National Weather Service provided tips on capturing photos, suggesting using the dark mode on the phone camera. This event marked the most powerful geomagnetic storm to reach Earth in at least two decades. Those residing near the Canadian border were most likely to witness the Northern Lights.
