North Mississippi river ports, airports, railroads to get financial boost
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Transportation has announced over $5 million in grant money for multimodal projects in the state’s Northern District. The funds will be used for various improvements at river ports, airports, railroads, and public transit lines. The Ports at Yellow Creek, Aberdeen, Itawamba County, and Lowndes County will receive over $1.9 million for improvements. Airports, including those in Houston, Starkville, Louisville, Monroe County, and the Booneville-Baldwyn Airport, will receive around $2.4 million for improvements. Public transit lines and railroads in Itawamba County and at the Yellow Creek Port will also receive funds for repairs and improvements.
