SUMMARY: In North Little Rock, parents and student-athletes are actively campaigning for the upcoming millage vote, canvassing neighborhoods to raise awareness. The goal is to educate voters on the importance of passing the millage increase, which would fund a new middle school, renovations to the main building, and a new sports complex. Last year’s proposal was rejected, but with a critical $20.8 million grant on the line, campaign co-chair Luke King emphasizes the need for approval. Concerns over higher property taxes are addressed, with an estimated $140-$150 increase for a $150,000 home. Voter registration for the May 13th special election ends Monday.

SUMMARY: Measles cases have emerged in Arkansas, with two unvaccinated children testing positive after travel exposure. Both children visited medical facilities while contagious, prompting concerns about potential virus spread. The Arkansas Department of Health is raising awareness and educating healthcare providers on how to handle potential cases. Measles is extremely contagious, with symptoms resembling a cold, but can lead to serious complications, especially for young children and immunocompromised individuals. Although there’s no known local exposure risk, vaccination remains the best preventive measure. Individuals are advised to monitor for symptoms for up to three weeks following any possible exposure.
