SUMMARY: Sam Ares, a talented actor known for his roles as Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird” and the Wizard in “The Wizard of Oz,” faced a significant challenge after being diagnosed with oral cancer. Following surgery that involved removing a part of his tongue, he underwent radiation treatment and dealt with severe communication difficulties. Despite these setbacks, Ares fought hard to return to the stage, auditioning for roles and gaining support from the local theater community. The “Wizard of Oz” performances run from October 18-20 and 24-27, showcasing Ares’s resilience and passion for acting.

Sam Marsh could act anywhere, but we are lucky to have him walk the boards here in Huntsville.
