He dedicated his life to firefighting, often choosing to be at the center of danger alongside his colleagues. Former Chief Buck Doer highlighted Connelly’s unwavering commitment, describing him as a “firefighter’s firefighter.” Connelly survived a near-fatal accident early in his career and later authored a book, “Refined by Fire.” He was also the model for a firefighter statue at Nashville’s 9/11 Memorial. His legacy lives on through the fire hall named in his honor, and a funeral service is scheduled for March 12th.
