Texas led this reduction, coinciding with record-breaking crude oil production. The Permian Basin saw a 32% reduction in methane emissions, with a dramatic 66% drop in flaring intensity since 2019. Texas could rank third globally in natural gas and fourth in oil production if it were a separate country.
