NOAA Winter Outlook calls for warmer, drier conditions for Southeast Texas
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chris Ramirez reports that NOAA’s winter Outlook predicts warmer and drier conditions for Southeast Texas, aligning with broader trends in the South Central US. Typically, January is Houston’s coldest month, but temperatures are expected to be above average with highs around 64 degrees. From December to February, below-average precipitation is anticipated, linked to the emerging La Niรฑa pattern. Current drought conditions are moderate to severe across Southeast Texas, with expectations for persistence of these dry conditions from October through January. Over the next week, dry weather is likely, with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.
After a wet start to the year, the NOAA Winter Outlook said drought conditions might persist through February.

Fifth Circuit squashes district court ruling on Texas election law, blocks another portion of it | Texas
SUMMARY: The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a district court’s ruling that blocked parts of Texas‘ election integrity law, which went into effect in September 2021. U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez had ruled that the ballot harvesting restriction violated constitutional rights, but the appeals court criticized the timing of his injunction, arguing it could confuse voters close to the election. The Fifth Circuit’s decision allows the state to enforce the law and investigate election violations. Additionally, the Secretary of State’s Office is appealing another ruling affecting the law’s canvassing provisions, further complicating legal interpretations ahead of the election.
