No parking in Gulfport
SUMMARY: South Mississippi residents are pushing back against a city ordinance that prohibits parking cars and boats on their yards. Many families say they have nowhere else to park their vehicles, as their homes were designed with minimal parking spaces. Some neighborhoods were built in the 1960s when most families only had one car, but now they have four or five. The city has sent over 300 notices to homeowners, but no fines have been issued yet. Residents argue that the ordinance is unfair and can lower the value of their properties. They are doing their best to make their place look presentable, but the long-term neglect is a concern.

Mayor Billy Hewes states parking on the side of the road is welcomed.
