No. 3 seed UConn celebrates Auriemma’s 70th birthday with 86-64 first-round win over Jackson State

SUMMARY: Paige Bueckers and UConn gifted coach Geno Auriemma with a 30th consecutive first-round win in the NCAA Tournament for his 70th birthday. Bueckers scored 28 points, leading the Huskies to an 86-64 victory over Jackson State. Aaliyah Edwards added 20 points and 10 rebounds. UConn led early and held a 28-point advantage. Jackson State’s Ti’lan Boler scored 25 points. UConn will face the winner of Syracuse vs. Arizona next. Coach Auriemma received a birthday shirt from Bueckers and joked about needing a nap. Jackson State coach Tomekia Reed praised her team for representing HBCUs. UConn is 31-2 in first-round games and has 27 seasons with 30 wins.
