Congressman Guest speaks to News 11 about what needs to be done regarding the Secret Service
SUMMARY: Former President Donald Trump has survived two assassination attempts, raising concerns about the Secret Service’s effectiveness. A member of the Homeland Security committee suggested that Congress should consider making the Secret Service a standalone agency, potentially enhancing its oversight and performance. While the Biden Administration is pushing for an additional $265 million in funding for the Secret Service, the committee member believes the issue lies in resource allocation, not funding. They argue that even with more money, it wouldn’t have a significant impact before the upcoming election due to time constraints in hiring and training additional agents.
