Laurel library initiating annual 'Food for Fines' program
SUMMARY: As the holiday season approaches, local food pantries are in urgent need of supplies. The Laurel Jones County Library is launching its “Food for Fines” initiative this November, allowing patrons to reduce library fines by $1 for each donated canned item, up to $10. Suggested donations include canned meat, fruits, vegetables, rice, and peanut butter. The effort aims to support organizations like the Christian Food Mission and the Glory House, which serve families in need. Donations can be made even without fines at the library, enhancing its community support beyond educational resources.
