SUMMARY: Hurricane Barrel is rewriting history as one of the strongest hurricanes east of the Lesser Antilles, making landfall in the Windward Islands. Now a Category 5 hurricane with 160 mph winds, it's moving West Northwest and expected to impact Jamaica midweek. High pressure may weaken it as it heads towards the Central and Northwestern Caribbean, potentially affecting the Yucatan, then turning North. Texas and Louisiana should monitor it closely. Meanwhile, heat waves continue with record-challenging temperatures in Meridian, up to 110°F with humidity. Rain relief is expected by Wednesday. July averages include over 5 inches of rain and highs around 94°F.
