SUMMARY: On the final Thursday of May, spotty showers mainly south of the I-20 Corridor affected Clark and Smith Counties but fizzled out. A complex weather system in the Plains is moving eastward, impacting Louisiana and potentially Western Mississippi by Friday, especially south of Jackson. Severe weather risks, primarily damaging winds, are anticipated on Friday afternoon and possibly Saturday, with storms packing gusts over 58 mph. Overnight showers may occur, with disturbances prompting hit-and-miss storms on Friday afternoon. This unsettled pattern could bring 1 to 3 inches of rain by Sunday. June and hurricane season begin Saturday, with ongoing weather vigilance advised.
