Newly-drawn 6th Congressional District will be likely pickup for Democrats | Louisiana
SUMMARY: Louisiana‘s 6th Congressional District is holding a competitive election on November 5, following a redistricting that created a second majority Black congressional district. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Garret Graves is not seeking reelection, leaving five candidates, including four Democrats. Sen. Cleo Fields leads in fundraising with over $689,000, while his closest challenger, Quentin Anderson, has raised $17,000. Republican Elbert Guillory has not raised funds. Fields is experienced, having served in the Louisiana Senate and U.S. House, while Anderson, at 36, is a newcomer focused on public safety and infrastructure. The district’s changes stem from a federal lawsuit to better represent Black voters.
