New storm shelters offer protection for more Lee County residents
SUMMARY: Three new storm shelters were provided in Belden, Mississippi through a grant from Three Rivers Planning and Development District, after local residents couldn’t find safe shelter during a tornado. Lee County District Three Supervisor Wesley Webb worked to secure the shelters, bringing the total to five in the area. Webb emphasized the need for more shelters in the tornado-prone region and encouraged locals to know the location of their nearest storm shelters. The shelters can hold about 30 people each, and Webb is working to secure more funding for additional shelters in the county.
