Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who killed 14 people and injured 30 by ramming a pickup truck into New Year’s revelers in New Orleans, had bomb-making materials at his Houston home and planned the attack for over six weeks. The FBI found hazardous materials and bomb-making equipment, as well as clues suggesting Jabbar’s attack was premeditated. Jabbar, a former Army soldier with links to ISIS, died in a shootout with police after firing at officers. Investigators also discovered crude bombs planted in the area.
