New ‘Mississippi Remembers’ exhibit now on display at two state museums

SUMMARY: The new “Mississippi Remembers” exhibit, now on display at two state museums in Jackson, commemorates the resilience of Mississippians following Hurricane Katrina’s devastation 20 years ago. The exhibit features powerful photographs by Melody Golding, a Red Cross volunteer during the storm, and state-held artifacts, including an auditorium seat from Pascagoula High School. It also highlights historic preservation efforts and the state’s recovery, with more than 300 properties protected post-storm. The exhibit is free to view and open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
