New lawsuit filed in case of Mississippi boy shot by officer

SUMMARY: A new lawsuit has been filed against the City of Indianola and Sgt. Greg Capers by the Carlos Moore Law Group on behalf of Aderrien Murry’s family. Aderrien, an 11-year-old boy, was shot in the chest by Capers on May 20, 2023, after his mother, Nakala Murry, called the police for help at 4:00 a.m. regarding an irate man at her home. Despite the grand jury ruling in December 2023 that there was no criminal conduct by Capers, the lawsuit claims gross negligence and reckless disregard by the police. Family attorney Carlos Moore emphasizes the need for better police training and supervision.
