Neurosurgery Awareness Month with Dr. Miguel Melgar

Memorial Health System is recognizing those who work to treat neurological issues and is joined by neurosurgeon Dr. Miguel Melgaard. There have been tremendous advances in neurological surgery over the past 10 years, thanks to technology. This technology has helped neurosurgeons perform more complex surgeries with good and excellent results. Many people think of neurosurgery when they think of treating neurological issues.

SUMMARY: The weather forecast indicates a significant drop in temperatures, with cold and dry conditions prevailing over the next week. While a slight rebound into the 30s is expected this weekend, temperatures will remain well below the seasonal norm of 61°F for January in South Mississippi. Winds are forecasted to increase, prompting a small craft advisory. Morning lows will reach the upper 20s, necessitating precautions for exposed pipes. Overall, the week ahead will feature highs in the low 50s, with potential rain anticipated as warmer air gradually moves in, but temperatures will still remain unseasonably low.

While the first few days of 2025 have been pleasant, a cold front is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. South Mississippi will face Lake Effect snowfall in Ohio and increasing humidity locally. Over the weekend, temperatures will drop, with highs around 62°F on Saturday, but a significant Arctic blast will hit next week, potentially causing lows to plummet into the 20s. Residents are advised to prepare for possible severe weather on Sunday evening and take precautions against freezing pipes.
SUMMARY:
St. Thomas Episcopal Catholic Church held a special Mass to celebrate the Feast of the Three Kings. Children from multiple parishes performed a pageant highlighting the story of Jesus’ birth. Father Satish explained that Christmas isn’t just a one-day event; it continues for 12 days. The feast, celebrated on January 6th, reminds worshipers that Jesus is for everyone, symbolized by the visit of unknown kings. This year marked the first children’s pageant, created from scratch due to a lack of scripts. Father Satish also encouraged reflecting Jesus’ light by guiding others toward it.
One Coast church is kicking off the New Year with faith and community.
