Neighbors express concerns after Wellstar announces plans for site of former Atlanta Medical Center
SUMMARY: The future of the former Atlanta Medical Center is unclear for local residents who are disappointed about the lack of emergency services in the new development plan. City officials announced that the site will include green space, affordable housing, and health resources. However, community members conducted a rally to express their desire for urgent care options, highlighting concerns over overcrowded local hospitals like Grady. While plans for the site’s health component will involve community input, residents feel the hospital’s absence is a significant loss. Demolition of certain areas is expected to begin early next year.
The plan currently includes affordable housing, residential properties, green space, neighborhood retail, new street access, and health resources.

What are poll watchers? Explaining Georgia's voting process
SUMMARY: The first weekend of early voting in Georgia is underway, highlighting the vital role of poll workers in ensuring fair elections. Volunteers are responsible for proper vote counting and maintaining smooth election operations. Georgia’s Secretary of State‘s office monitors polling places closely, utilizing poll watchers designated by political parties—up to two per precinct and one for nonpartisan candidates. Unlike poll monitors, who observe external conditions, poll watchers undergo specific training to observe the vote counting process. Early voting ends on November 1st. For information on the November election, residents can text “vote” to a designated number for resources.
Poll watchers are people who observe at a polling place on Election Day or during early voting process. Here’s why Georgia uses them.
