Target filed plans in September for a store in the Barnes Crossing area near North Gloster Street and Interstate 22. The Tupelo City Council recently approved an agreement to incentivize the retailer, including infrastructure improvements to alleviate traffic. While some community members express excitement about the shopping options, Target has not confirmed its plans for Tupelo, as its future store openings do not currently include the city. Despite recent mixed earnings reports, company officials remain optimistic about their long-term prospects.
The City of Tupelo is now playing the waiting game for a possible Target store.
