SUMMARY: Missouri State University (MSU) has eliminated its DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs, including the Office of Inclusive Engagement, citing state political pressures and funding considerations. While some students express concern over the impact on marginalized communities, others support the move, arguing it prioritizes academic merit over diversity-based programs. MSU President Richard Williams believes the decision won’t harm student recruitment or retention. Students affected by the cuts voice frustration, especially those relying on DEI scholarships and support. The university assures that current scholarships will be honored, and affected staff will be reassigned within the university.

SUMMARY: Structural cardiology focuses on innovative, minimally invasive techniques to treat heart conditions affecting its structure. Sponsored by Perry Cardiovascular, Dr. Venkatesh emphasized that this field often caters to older patients who may not qualify for traditional open-heart surgery. Interventions involve accessing the heart through veins or arteries via small needle punctures, avoiding large incisions. This approach minimizes stress on patients, resulting in quicker recovery times; many leave the hospital within a day, sometimes even on the same day.
