Moviegoers react to showing of “No Other Land” in Miami Beach
SUMMARY: Moviegoers in Miami Beach attended a screening of the controversial film “No Other Land,” which explores the Israel-Hamas conflict. Despite threats from Mayor Steven Miner to terminate the theater’s lease over allegations of anti-Semitism, a heated city commission meeting led to the proposal’s withdrawal, resulting in a sold-out show. Attendees expressed that the mayor’s objections heightened interest in the film and emphasized the importance of First Amendment rights. Created by Palestinian and Israeli filmmakers, “No Other Land” portrays a Palestinian village’s interaction with the Israeli army and has garnered attention globally, illustrating significant political discourse.

A look at Israel’s multilayered air defense as military says it shot down missile from Yemen
SUMMARY: The Israeli military successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Thursday, preventing it from reaching Israeli airspace. The missile attack, claimed by the Houthis, targeted Israel’s international airport and marked the second strike since US airstrikes against the rebels began. Israel’s advanced air-defense system includes the Arrow for long-range missiles, David’s Sling for medium-range threats, and the Iron Dome, which intercepts short-range rockets with over 90% success. Additionally, Israel is developing the Iron Beam, a laser-based system designed to offer a cheaper interception method. No injuries were reported from the recent incident in Jerusalem.

Mysterious ice chunk that crashed through roof was not from a plane: FAA
SUMMARY: The FAA has ruled out the possibility that a mysterious six-foot ice chunk, which crashed through a roof in Flagler County, came from an airplane. Initial theories suggested it might have formed from plane bathroom leaks at high altitudes, but inspections found no evidence of such leaks in the planes that flew over the area. Neighbors remain skeptical, with some speculating about extraterrestrial involvement or weather phenomena. Aviation experts indicate that the ice could have originated from an airplane descending through an icing layer, potentially even on a warm day. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.

The FAA says there’s no evidence that the ice chunk that crashed into a Central Florida home in February came from an aircraft.

Teen accused in deadly hit-and-run deemed a danger to others, as police arrest 3rd suspect
SUMMARY: A 13-year-old boy in Albuquerque remains in custody for allegedly murdering 63-year-old physicist Scott Dwight Habermehl in a May 2024 hit-and-run while the victim biked to work. Authorities say the boy, then 12, drove the car, with two other boys—ages 11 and 15—inside. The older boys face multiple charges, including murder and unlawful firearm possession. Video from inside the car shows the suspects targeting Habermehl. A judge denied the 13-year-old’s release, citing danger to others. Police also arrested the now 16-year-old suspect. The case resembles a 2023 Las Vegas incident where teens fatally struck a cyclist on video.
