SUMMARY: Good Tuesday morning! We’re seeing light drizzle in Eastern Kentucky, particularly in northern Morgan and southern Elliott counties, with scattered sprinkles possible. Most areas remain dry, but pack an umbrella as rain chances increase this afternoon. Temperatures are in the upper 30s to upper 40s. A disturbance will bring more showers later, possibly with grapple, but they should dissipate by tonight. Expect colder temperatures and potential frost, especially in sheltered areas. As high pressure moves in, prepare for clear skies and more frost overnight into Thursday. Cover or bring in vulnerable plants to protect them from the cold.

Bring in those plants tonight! Those beautiful mums that capture the spirit of fall need to be brought inside or covered up as temperatures take a tumble during the night, with frosty conditions possible!

SUMMARY: This morning started off gloomy with steady rain, particularly in Southeastern Kentucky, while Lexington sees drier conditions. Scattered showers are expected to continue, especially in Eastern Kentucky. Central Kentucky remains drier for now, but rain gear is advised as heavier showers may occur this afternoon. Tonight will bring spotty showers with mostly cloudy skies, as temperatures drop to the mid-40s. The forecast indicates a gloomy Friday, with potential breaks in clouds on Saturday and a return to mostly cloudy weather on Sunday. The next rain system is anticipated to arrive mid-next week. Current temperature is 55°F with breezy conditions.

Squish, squish. Walking through the grass and on the street sounds a little soggier than usual as showers continue to fall across much of the Bluegrass. Drier conditions dominate for much of the next week until the rain returns in the middle of next week.

Lawmakers demand review of Treasury Department’s oversight of shrimp imports | Louisiana

Published

on

www.thecentersquare.com – By Nolan McKendry | The Center Square – 2024-11-12 10:27:00

SUMMARY: House Committee Chairman James Comer and Representatives Clay Higgins and Troy Nehls are urging the U.S. Government Accountability Office to investigate the Treasury Department’s compliance with laws protecting American industries, particularly the shrimping sector, from foreign competition. They express concerns that since 2004, U.S. representatives in international financial institutions have predominantly supported foreign projects that harm U.S. industries, including shrimp. The legislators cite that U.S. shrimp markets face significant competition from imports, particularly from India, which raises ethical issues like forced labor and environmental degradation on shrimp farms. They seek assurance that U.S. interests are adequately safeguarded.
