Evening Weather (9/15): A few showers possible Sunday afternoon under a mostly clear sky
SUMMARY: Sunday was a beautiful day with clouds parting to reveal blue skies by evening. Temperatures reached a high of 87ยฐF, slightly above normal but cooler than Saturday. Good dew points kept it comfortable. September 17 will feature a nearly full Harvest Moon, expected to rise at 7:36 PM. A potential tropical cyclone is spinning offshore of the Carolinas, possibly developing into a tropical storm before landfall. Forecasts suggest it may bring scattered showers and cloud cover mid-week, with rain chances peaking on Tuesday. Overall, temperatures will remain in the middle 80s as fall begins next Sunday.
Although spotty showers are possible each day through Tuesday, most will remain dry with high temps topping out in the middle to lower 80s.

Historic sycamore tree to be removed in Rutherford County
SUMMARY: The last surviving sycamore tree, originally planted at the Rutherford County Courthouse, is set to be removed in November due to its poor health, with an estimated age of 179 to 184 years. Despite attempts to save it, the tree cannot be preserved. However, a plan allows it to continue living: Rutherford County’s mayor has ordered a graft from the existing tree, enabling the planting of a genetically identical sycamore at the courthouse in the future.
The last surviving sycamore tree originally planted at the corners of the Rutherford County courthouse has been scheduled to be removed in November.
