Morning Forecast – Wednesday, Oct. 30th

Temperatures are in the 60s and 70s, with a high of 87 expected later. A chance of thunderstorms arises this afternoon, particularly around 4 to 5 PM. On Halloween morning, a cold front may bring gusty winds and isolated severe weather, but the overall threat remains low. Rain should clear by evening, allowing for relatively dry trick-or-treating. The weekend forecast shows slightly drier conditions, with ongoing mild temperatures and minimal rain chances into next week.

A light southerly breeze has kept temperatures trending warmer and higher dewpoints. Temperatures are mostly mild, and we expect to see some daytime clouds today. There will be a chance to see some patchy showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening. A cold front will arrive by Halloween where a line of t-storms will develop. Strong thunderstorms will be possible with gusty winds being the main threat. An isolated embedded tornado cannot be ruled out. These storms will exit by Halloween night. Rain looks to linger in the forecast for Friday and for next week. Temperatures still look to stay above average in the lower 80’s.

A line of severe storms Saturday Night is a Weather Alert Day
SUMMARY: A First Warning Weather Alert is in effect for tomorrow night, with severe storms expected, including gusty winds and a low chance of weak, short-lived tornadoes. While a line of storms will move through Southeast Louisiana late Saturday night into early Sunday, the tornado threat is minimal and short-lived. Heavy rain and gusty winds are the primary threats. The North Shore could experience storms as early as 6 PM, with New Orleans around midnight. After the storms, cooler temperatures and north winds will bring a potential freeze Monday morning. Another cold front and storm are expected by Tuesday night.

Carnival season kicks off in Slidell with Krewe of Titans honoring Bourbon St. tragedy victims
SUMMARY: Carnival season in Southeast Louisiana kicks off with around 70 parades, featuring everything from costumed groups to dog parades and massive super crews. One of the first events was the Krewe of Titans in Slidell, which had 565 riders and 26 floats. The atmosphere was family-friendly, with people of all ages enjoying the celebration. This year, the Krewe of Titans dedicated their parade to honor the 14 victims of the January 1st Bourbon Street tragedy. Their faces were displayed on the floats, symbolizing that “those 14 souls are riding with us,” as the community comes together to celebrate and heal.
