Morning Forecast – Wednesday, Aug. 28th
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward forecasts a mix of sun and clouds today, with temperatures in the lower 70s rising into the upper 90s by afternoon. South Arkansas may experience isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly along the I-20 corridor, as humidity increases. Current conditions show mostly mid-70s across the region, with dew points indicating some dry air northward. A high-pressure system to the north and a low-pressure system in South Texas are creating favorable wind patterns. Upcoming days suggest a trend towards more rain and thunderstorms, providing relief from drought conditions, with expected rainfall of up to an inch.
Clouds have rolled in out of the south as we kick off this Wednesday partly cloudy. Winds will be more southerly here at the surface and aloft as our weather pattern is influenced by a tropical disturbance pattern. A front will stall just to the north, and we will see scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms during the late week. Most of the rain should stay south of I-20 this afternoon before shifting more northerly by tomorrow. This pattern will remain unchanged through the weekend. The rain is a welcoming sight since it will help to keep temperatures a tad cooler and help with the dry spell we have been dealing with lately.
