Morning Forecast – Monday, Aug. 26th
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward reports mostly clear skies with humidity lingering in the area, as dew points hover in the mid-60s to lower 70s. While there’s no rain currently, an upper-level low pressure system near Texas and Louisiana may bring potential storms midweek. Today’s temperatures are expected to rise to the mid-90s, with heat index values nearing 100 degrees, prompting hydration reminders. Tonight will be partly cloudy, cooling to the lower 70s. Tomorrow could see slightly higher temps around 99 degrees with limited rain chances, while scattered thunderstorms may develop later in the week, offering slight relief.

A slither of dry air aloft is helping to keep skies mostly clear this Monday morning. An upper level low currently sits just off the Louisiana coast. This low will shift northerly by Wednesday which will increase the chances of patchy showers and thunderstorms. Until then, temperatures will remain in the upper 90’s. Dewpoints should hold out in the upper 60’s but still humid, nonetheless. Conditions look to stay hot in the mid 90’s with some limited relief of patchy to scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the week as a weak front arrives by the weekend.

WATCH LIVE: Brad Simpson murder indictment, judge to rule on partial dismissal
SUMMARY: The court session involved a hearing on Brad Chandler Simpson’s murder indictment. The defense filed a motion to quash the indictment, challenging the sufficiency of the evidence. They argued that the state’s indictment lacked specificity and did not adequately address the chain of causation leading to the victim’s death. The state countered by citing case law, asserting that the indictment was sufficient, and the evidence would allow the jury to infer the defendant’s role. The judge denied the motion to quash and set a 30-day status review for the case.

Simpson is charged with the murder of his wife, Suzanne Simpson, who remains missing.
