SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward reports ongoing scattered showers in southeast Arkansas, mainly north of I-20 but with patchy rain south as well. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas and rain jackets, especially during morning commutes. Temperatures hover in the 70s, with a cold front expected to move in, bringing improved conditions for the weekend. Rain is likely to taper off by evening, leaving mostly clear skies for Saturday. Daytime highs will reach the low 80s, cooling to the upper 50s overnight. Next week may see a return of rain and thunderstorms by Wednesday and Thursday.

Showers are still lingering this morning as a low-pressure system hovers just to our south. Rain could still linger by lunchtime. A cold front is expected to swing through later tonight, helping to clear out the skies by tomorrow. Cooler and drier air will settle into place making for a very pleasant weekend. Overnight lows will fall to the mid and upper 50’s early next week. Temperatures will rebound briefly into next week before the chances of rain return with our next system which should help to regulate temperatures back to the mid and lower 80’s through next Friday.

www.youtube.com – WWLTV – 2024-12-20 18:10:30

SUMMARY: Anonymous employees from the Louisiana Health Department claim that leadership has instructed them not to promote COVID-19 and flu vaccines anymore. A report from NPR cites four employees who were told to cease social media posts, vaccine events, and press releases about vaccination encouragement due to a re-evaluation of messaging as the pandemic evolves. The health department did not confirm specifics but acknowledged the change in approach. Experts warn that this shift may lead to decreased vaccination rates during a time when Louisiana is experiencing high flu cases, potentially increasing illness and mortality rates. Vaccines remain available and free through various local channels.

Anonymous employees say the state health department is pulling back on telling people to get vaccinated. That’s according to a report published by NPR on Friday.
