Morehead optimist club celebrates 60 years of giving back
SUMMARY: The Morehead Optimist Club, established in 1964, has been spreading positivity and supporting local youth in Kentucky for 60 years. Meeting biweekly, the club focuses on initiatives and donations, contributing roughly $200,000 annually, primarily funded through weekly bingo games. President Bill Redwine, a member for 20 years, emphasizes the importance of helping children as a motivating factor. With 45 members currently, Redwine acknowledges the need for new members to ensure the club’s future sustainability. The club continues its mission of uplifting the community and plans to discuss strategies for member recruitment in upcoming meetings.
In 1964, Optimist International established a chapter in Morehead, hoping to better the lives of kids in the community.

WKU Player of the Week: Lady Hilltopper forward Josie Gilvin
SUMMARY: WKU Athletics has named junior forward Josie Gilvin Player of the Week after her standout performance in the Lady Hilltoppers’ 63-58 win over Middle Tennessee State, snapping their 33-game conference win streak. Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland names new board member
SUMMARY: Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland has appointed Martha Steil from Christian County to its Board of Directors for a six-year term. Steil, a Kentucky resident since 2003, holds degrees from New York University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently the human resources director at United Southern Bank, she brings experience from her previous roles in human resources at Propulsys, Inc. and Lourdes Hospital. Stuck in the deep freeze Wednesday
