More than 300 children remain on Tupelo Angel Tree
SUMMARY: The Salvation Army in Tupelo has 8 days left to fulfill over 350 Angels on this year’s Angel Tree. Each Angel requests toys, clothes, or toiletries, and donations are due back by December 13th. The annual Angel Tree provides help to local families in need, and for many children, these gifts may be the only ones they receive during the holiday season. Those interested in helping can pick up an Angel from the tree at select locations and drop off donations at the mall or the Salvation Army. This provides hope for Christmas for families and children who may otherwise have nothing.

Jackson Democratic mayoral primary heads to runoff
SUMMARY: In Jackson’s Democratic mayoral primary, Senator John Horn nearly avoided a runoff despite low voter turnout. Horn will face incumbent Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba in a runoff on April 22nd, after securing over 7,000 more votes than Lumumba. Many voters, including some who typically lean Republican, supported Horn for his hard campaigning and ability to get things done. However, Horn’s vote share fell short of the 50% needed to avoid a runoff. The winner of the runoff will advance to the June 3rd general election. Voters are seeking a mayor who is transparent and effective in managing city resources.
