More than 30 marching bands gathered at NEMCC
SUMMARY: Over 30 marching bands participated in the Northeast Regional Marching Band Championship at Northeast Mississippi Community College. High school bands from Mississippi and Tennessee prepared for this event, showcasing their talents through exhibitions and competitive segments. Bands were judged against a scoring system, aiming for top ratings and competing for the grand champion trophy. Students and directors expressed excitement and nerves, highlighting their hard work and the opportunity to perform. The Northeast Show Band from Tigerland also showcased its talent at the event, which serves as a precursor to state championships.

Tombigbee EPA still out of state helping with disaster relief
SUMMARY: Tom Bigby Electric Power Association is actively working out of state to restore power to those affected by Hurricane Helen. The organization is facilitating easier crew exchanges, as shown in footage of their operations. A school bus is transporting a new crew to the Carolinas while bringing back the team that has been diligently working on disaster relief efforts.

Costa Rica native finds home in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Mexican cuisine is highly popular in Mississippi, where there are currently 610 Mexican restaurants. As Hispanic Heritage Month is honored, Roberto Silvera, a Costa Rican immigrant, shares his journey. He moved to the U.S. over 16 years ago and unexpectedly became a restaurant manager in Vicksburg. Despite lacking restaurant experience, his customer service background helped him excel. Now managing eight local restaurants, he emphasizes personal attention and a welcoming atmosphere. Silvera reflects on his past while appreciating life in the U.S., where he has built a family and career. A special feature honoring Hispanic heritage will air on October 11th.
