SUMMARY: The Francine flooding in Kenner caused widespread damage, particularly affecting over 100 homes and businesses in West Kenner. The flooding was exacerbated by record rainfall and the malfunction of at least five crucial drainage pumps, three of which are located at Armstrong International Airport. These pumps are essential for managing runoff from the airport’s concrete surfaces into drainage canals. Residents have been seeking answers regarding the pump failures since the storm impacted the area. Investigative reporter Mike Pearlstein will provide updates and reactions from both residents and officials in an upcoming segment.

Out of all the damage caused by Francine, flooding in Kenner was perhaps the most widespread and most costly.

The bill comes in response to rising antisemitism, with reports showing 25% of Jewish students feeling unsafe on campus in 2023. Endorsed by the AJC and ADL, the bill seeks to improve transparency, hold universities accountable, and provide a safer learning environment for students, especially following the October 7 Hamas attack.
