Calhoun City votes to allow sale of alcohol
SUMMARY: Calhoun City, Mississippi, has voted for the first time to permit the sale of alcohol, with a 4-to-1 decision influenced by House Bill 776. Mayor Marshall W. Coleman believes this will enhance local safety by reducing the need to travel for alcohol and could provide economic benefits, keeping tax revenues within the town. Local businesses are eager to start, aiming for sales by November, following the successful example set by nearby Bruce in 2022.

How Isaac Smith became MSUโs top defender
SUMMARY: Isaac Smith, a safety for Mississippi State, emerged as a football standout at Itawamba Agricultural High School, attracting Division I offers. Coming from an athletic family, with his father playing at Ole Miss, Isaac’s first offer also came from there. However, he felt a strong connection with Mississippi State and its late coach Mike Leach, who he admired for his kindness, including attending a game when Isaac wasn’t playing. Following Leach’s unexpected passing, Isaac sought guidance through prayer and ultimately chose Mississippi State, feeling called to be there.
