More details released in DeSoto County officer-involved shooting
SUMMARY: Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) officials have released more details about the officer-involved shooting that happened in Southaven. Deputies and SWAT Team members were attempting to execute an arrest warrant for Demarcus Williams when the incident occurred. Williams allegedly refused to comply with the officers’ commands and pointed a rifle at a deputy, leading to his shooting. Williams later died from his injuries. The chief deputy stated that if Williams had complied with the officers’ commands, the loss of life could have been avoided. Williams was being taken into custody for federal indictments and had a history of violent charges.
