More areas of north Mississippi issue burn bans as weather stays dry

SUMMARY: Good evening, I’m Craig Ford. Increasing burn bans are being implemented locally as wildfires occur across the region. In Webster County, two fires have affected about eight acres along Highway 50 West. Lee County, including Tupelo, is now under a burn ban due to dangerous conditions. Meanwhile, OCTA County isn’t currently under a ban but may issue one soon as grass is extremely dry. Starkville is under a burn ban, and other counties are likely to follow. Significant rainfall is not expected until next week, so burning is highly discouraged. Updates will follow on WTVA 9 News.
