Monday: muggy with rounds of showers and storms
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Suzanne Horgan reports a week of unsettled weather starting with a severe alert day. Today, there’s a risk of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in southern areas, with potential for isolated severe storms and damaging winds. Tomorrow shifts to a marginal risk, while Wednesday sees the risk extend north. Temperatures today will be in the mid-80s, rising to around 90°F on Tuesday. Thursday brings extreme heat with triple-digit heat index values, and Friday features scattered storms with highs near 93°F. Isolated storms may linger into Saturday as conditions evolve throughout the week.

SUMMARY: WKU Women’s Tennis will host Southeast Missouri (SEMO) on Friday, January 24, at 6 p.m. CT at the Warren County Tennis Facility. WKU, with a record of 1-0 after defeating EKU, aims for consecutive wins for the first time since 2022. Notable players include Sofia Blanco, with 41 singles wins, and Rachel Hermanova, who holds a program record of 50 singles wins. SEMO, coached by Steve Brooks, is 0-2 this season and a two-time Ohio Valley Conference champion. WKU leads the series 4-2, having won their last encounter 5-2 last season. Admission is free.

WKU Player of the Week: Lady Hilltopper forward Josie Gilvin
SUMMARY: WKU Athletics has named junior forward Josie Gilvin Player of the Week after her standout performance in the Lady Hilltoppers’ 63-58 win over Middle Tennessee State, snapping their 33-game conference win streak. Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland names new board member
SUMMARY: Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland has appointed Martha Steil from Christian County to its Board of Directors for a six-year term. Steil, a Kentucky resident since 2003, holds degrees from New York University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently the human resources director at United Southern Bank, she brings experience from her previous roles in human resources at Propulsys, Inc. and Lourdes Hospital. Executive Director Charles Dennis praised her passion for community service, citing her involvement with the Aaron McNeil House.
