Monday 4PM Tropical Update: Francine expected stronger at landfall, shifts west
SUMMARY: Forecast models indicate a shift in an approaching hurricane’s path westward, potentially affecting its intensity before landfall on Wednesday. The storm may reorganize in a more favorable environment, but dry air and wind shear could weaken it. Coastal flooding and damaging winds are the primary concerns rather than significant rainfall. Expected wind gusts may reach 50 to 60 mph and storm surges could exceed six feet in some areas. Although the hurricane is forecasted to make landfall as a category 2 storm, residents should prepare for potential complications, including tornado watches in the northeastern quadrant of the storm.
WWL Louisiana Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin with the latest update on Tropical Storm Francine, its path, and expected impact.
The current track has the storm strengthening into a category 2 hurricane before landfall on Wednesday.

Lawmakers approve emergency election plan in Iberville Parish | Louisiana
SUMMARY: The Bayou Grosse Tรชte drawbridge in Iberville Parish, closed for repairs after a vessel strike, has prompted lawmakers to approve a new polling location due to access issues. The bridge’s closure could require around 210 voters to travel over an hour to vote. Secretary of State Nancy Landry presented a plan to add a second polling site at the Bayou Blue fire station, affecting about 500 voters. Legislators ensured voter integrity by adjusting polling books to restrict voting to residents of each area. This emergency plan applies only to the November election and may incur no extra cost to taxpayers.
