SUMMARY: Hurricane Debbie, a Category 1 storm, is forecasted to make landfall in Florida, bringing significant flooding risks to the Georgia coastline and the Carolinas. As Debbie stalls near the coast mid-week, heavy rainfall could exceed two feet, leading to catastrophic flooding. In contrast, the Gulf Coast is anticipating extreme heat, with temperatures reaching up to 100 degrees in New Orleans, potentially breaking previous records. A new tropical wave is also being monitored, although it’s too early to predict its exact trajectory. Precautions are advised as this summer proves to be intense, characterized by hurricanes and wildfires.

Hurricane Debby is making landfall in the Big Bend of Florida as a category 1 storm. It will bring a major flood threat up the East Coast this week. The storm will slow down to a crawl over the next few days leading to catastrophic flooding for areas in Georgia and the Carolinas. Some spots near Charleston could pick up over two feet of rain.

Endorsed by the AJC and ADL, the bill seeks to improve transparency, hold universities accountable, and provide a safer learning environment for students, especially following the October 7 Hamas attack.
