Central Florida wildlife rescue falls victim to podcast scam, warns others
SUMMARY: In Mount Dora, Florida, Elizabeth McAleenan co-founded Little Bit Wildlife Rescue, the only certified wildlife rehabilitator in Lake County. Philippine village battles dengue by offering bounties for mosquitos — dead or alive
SUMMARY: In Mandaluyong City, a village launched a unique initiative against dengue by rewarding residents one peso for every five captured mosquitoes or larvae. This effort follows a dengue outbreak in nearby Quezon City, which reported ten deaths this year among 1,769 infections. Over 28,234 dengue cases have been documented in the Philippines in just over a month, a 40% increase from last year. Village leader Carlito Cernal intensified the campaign after local cases rose to 42 and two students died. Despite concerns about potential misuse, residents have begun participating, seeking to aid the public health fight against this mosquito-borne illness.
