Mississippi Senate committee passes their version of Medicaid expansion
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Senate Medicaid Committee passed a Medicaid expansion plan that would cover those aged 19 to 64 making up to 100% of the federal poverty level. This version differs from the House bill that passed earlier in the legislative session, which covered individuals up to 138% of the federal poverty level. The Senate plan includes a 30-hour weekly work requirement and an estimated 80,000 Mississippians would be eligible for coverage. The Senate has until April 10 to pass the plan off of the Senate floor. Faith leaders in Mississippi are advocating for Medicaid expansion.
