Mississippi residents urged to prepare ahead of Francine’s expected landfall as hurricane
SUMMARY: Residents along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and parts of the Pine Belt are urged to prepare for Tropical Storm Francine, expected to make landfall in Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) advises having a go-kit ready with essentials like food, water, and important documents, and to keep a battery-powered radio for updates. Over 100,000 sandbags have been distributed across south Mississippi to assist with storm preparation. Residents can collect sandbags at designated locations but must bring their own shovels. MEMA aims to help residents feel prepared ahead of the storm.
