Mississippi parties react after presidential debate
SUMMARY: The first 2024 presidential debate concluded with significant reactions from both sides. The event, held in Atlanta, covered critical topics such as the opioid crisis, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and the January 6th insurrection. At a Mississippi watch party, democratic supporters felt the debate challenged the belief that Mississippi is a solidly red state. Meanwhile, Republican leaders expressed concerns over the lack of a live audience and criticized Biden's debate performance, considering it slow. Moderators managed interruptions by muting mics, a strategy not employed four years ago. The debate sets the stage for an intense election season.
Mississippi Republicans and Democrats watched the CNN Presidential Debate closely.
