His induction is set for September 26 during the Celebrate Bass Fishing Week in Springfield, Missouri. Williams, a pioneer who broke racial barriers in bass fishing, was the foremost African American to compete in the national Bassmaster Classic in 1983. With nearly 300 Bassmaster and Fishing League Worldwide events under his belt, including four professional victories, Williams has inspired many African American anglers and continues to mentor others in the Jackson area.
