Mississippi National Guard honors fallen aviator

SUMMARY: The Mississippi National Guard honored fallen aviator Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bryan Andrew Zemek in a burial procession at the 172nd Airlift Wing. Zemek, who died in a helicopter crash along with Chief Warrant Officer 4 Derek Joshua Abbott, was transferred to Barrancas National Cemetery in Florida by a C-17 Globemaster 3 aircraft. Zemek and Abbott were conducting a training flight when the incident occurred, leaving both men survived by their wives and children. Efforts to revive the Mississippi ballot initiative process were shut down in the state Senate. Zemek’s burial is scheduled for March 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
