Mississippi Museum of Art Hosts State’s First Picasso Exhibit
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson is hosting “Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds,” the first solo exhibit in the state dedicated to Pablo Picasso’s landscapes. Open until March 3, 2024, the exhibit features 27 of his paintings and sculptures, spanning his career from student days to his last landscape before dying in 1973. These rare works examine nature, industry, and war. Visitors can also view historical films and photos. Brandi Hoxie from the Mississippi Art Education Association praised the exhibit’s significance. Coinciding with this event is “Bearden/Picasso: Rhythms and Reverberations,” comparing Romare Bearden’s work with Picasso’s. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday.

Crafting Your Own Italian Sub
SUMMARY: Craving an Italian sub, I decided to make one at home since the nearest restaurants are far. The key is finding good bread with a crunchy crust, and local options like Henry’s Café, Le Bakery, and Rouses provide decent choices, though I prefer to hollow them out slightly. For the filling, classic ingredients include lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, pepperoni, capocollo, genoa salami, and cheeses like provolone or taleggio. For a budget-friendly sub, I’d recommend veggies, pepperoni, and seared mortadella with a drizzle of olive oil and a quick oven warm-up to melt the cheese. Don’t skimp on the meat!
