Mississippi maternal deaths are on the rise
SUMMARY: A report from the Mississippi Maternal Mortality Review Committee shows that maternal deaths are increasing in the state, with 80% of these deaths being preventable. Black, non-Hispanic women have a pregnancy-related mortality rate four times higher than White, non-Hispanic women. Cardiovascular disease and hypertension are the top contributors to maternal mortality.
