Mississippi man pleads guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud
SUMMARY: Robert Earl Givens Jr., a man from Carrollton, Mississippi, has pled guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Givens and four others participated in a scheme to obtain fraudulent heavy equipment loans from multiple banks. They used fraudulent bills of sale and other false documents to secure the loans. Givens posed as the buyer in the scheme, allowing him to obtain the loan money even when it was disbursed directly to the seller. The fraudulent loans were not paid off, causing significant financial damages to the affected institutions. Givens faces up to 30 years in prison.
